A contact lens prescription is different from a glasses prescription because the lenses sit directly on the eyes, rather than in front of them. You may be a good candidate for contact lenses—it will depend on your prescription and overall eye health. Contact lenses are not recommended as a full-time replacement for glasses, but they can be a great addition.
Getting a Contact Lens Prescription
A contact lens fitting can be part of a routine eye exam or carried out as a separate appointment. Either way, there is a separate cost associated with getting a contact lens fitting and prescription.
Even if Dr. Kaur has prescribed you contact lenses in the past, she needs to evaluate the health of your eyes and take measurements to determine whether contact lenses are a good choice for you. She calculates your prescription and determines which brand and power are most appropriate. If available, she gives you trial lenses to test out. After you have worn them for an advised period of time, you may need a follow-up appointment (covered under your initial fitting) to make sure that the fit and your vision are optimal. Your prescription is finalized when you and Dr. Kaur approve of the fit and feel of the contact lenses. Contact lens prescriptions are valid for 1–2 years.
New wearers will get trained by our staff to insert and remove their contact lenses.

contact lens ordering
We use an online portal called MARLO to procure contact lens supplies when you order through our office. MARLO notifies you about your current order status and reminds you to reorder when your supply runs low. Creating an account with MARLO allows you to order online, outside of office hours, with a valid prescription. MARLO cannot apply insurance benefits—contact us before placing an order if you would like to use your benefits. If you prefer that we do not share your information with MARLO, please let us know.
